Evaluation of previous phases of London Challenge New Views courses has been undertaken by the Institute of Education and also by the Field Studies Council. The information that has been provided is being used produce a report reviewing the impacts of the experience on pupils, teachers, parents/guardians and senior management. The report, to be published later this year, will look at what has been learnt during the 4 years of the project and will share information which should help teachers, senior management and course providers when planning residential courses in the future. It will link closely to the recently launched Manifesto for Learning Outside the Classroom.
The report will also be presented to the DfES and we hope will provide evidence to support further funding or even rolling programmes such as London Challenge New Views out to other areas of the country.
There will be ongoing evaluation of Phase 6 courses which will provide a comprehensive review of all Phases of the project i.e. from 2004 to 2008.
