The London Challenge Residential Experience

What is New Views Funding?

New Views funding is part of the London Challenge Student Pledge to provide courses to extend the opportunities for Key Stage 3 pupils to take part in a residential experience or visit. A residential experience can be very powerful in developing independence and self-organisation, and in building team relationships between young people and between them and adults.

All schools eligible for Phase 6 funding have been notified of the level of their London Challenge New Views grant.
The total grant is allocated on a per pupil basis with a minimum number of pupils who should benefit from the funding. Schools can use the grant as a contribution towards or full funding for one or more London Challenge New Views courses. The grant can be used to support more pupils than the minimum. Should the cost of a booked course exceed the allocated grant the school would be liable for the additional costs over and above the grant. Please note if the number of pupils falls below the number stated on the grant allocation then the total grant would be reduced pro rata.

Each school will have to take part in London based training to develop effective integration of the residential experience within school. The school will be given supply cover to enable a teacher to attend the workshop which will be organised by London Challenge New Views. Further supply cover of one day to enable the teacher to carry out pre and post course evaluation can be claimed following attendance and completion of the evaluation.
Funding can only be used to book a London Challenge New Views course as listed on this website.
